The way that a Wooden Name Tag is fastened is important. Name tags are worn in many different environments and on many types of clothing. James Coffee Studios is pleased to offer you a choice of different name tag fasteners. Most name tag fasteners provided by James Coffee Studios are included in the base price of the name tag (this includes magnetic and pin-back).
When ordering name tags keep in mind that it is very cost effective to order two or more identically engraved name tags, but with different fasteners. This means that employees can most cost effectively have two wooden name tags, one with a magnet, and one with a pin back (to remain attached to a jacket) or other combinations (magnetic-magnetic, magnetic-bulldog clip, etc.).
We offer several fasteners that are not yet shown on this website:
- Leather Button Hole. These actually attach the name tag to a button on a shirt. There is an additional $3 charge for these leather button hole fasteners.
- Bull clip on a short plastic strap. This would be used for attaching a name tag to a pocket or shirt collar.
- Single Pin with Butterfly Clip.
- Vinyl Pocket.
- Various lanyards.
Magnetic Fasteners:
At WoodenNameTags.com we supply extremely powerful double pole magnets with our name tags. In real life it is very difficult for magnetically fastened name tags to come off of your normal clothing.
We provide two different types of magnetic fasteners, both of which are very strong:
- Metal holder for the magnets. This is the most commonly utilized fastener.
- Plastic holder for the magnets. Sometimes an employee finds metal to skin contact uncomfortable or irritating. This plastic holder is the solution. This fastener is slightly weaker than the Metal fastener above.
In terms of the name tags coming off I find that the only real culprit is my seat belt when I am getting out of my car...and when that happens I am glad that I was not wearing a pin-back fastener because something might have been damaged.
Almost all of the wooden name tags that we sell are sold with magnetic fasteners.
In addition to the two post magnets we can provide even stronger 3 post magnets. These 3 post magnets would typically be used with thick cloth such as outer wear.
Hint: when separating the two magnetic pieces it is easier to slide them to the side, as opposed to trying to pull them apart. Slide to the side and after a while they will easily separate.
Pin-Back Fastener:
There are times when pin-back fasteners are the correct choice. For example if you need to wear your name tag on the outside of a jacket a pin-back fastener is probably best.
We have a customer who occasionally orders pin-backed name tags for housekeeping employees.
Hint: It is suggested that two name tags be ordered, one with a magnetic fastener for everyday wear, and the other with a pin-back fastener which would remain permanently pinned to the jacket.
Double Post Bar Fastener:
Another form of pin-back fastener is the double post bar fastener. We supply two extra butterfly clips with each Double Post Bar Fastener.
Keep in mind that both the Pin-Back Fastener and the Double Post Bar Fastener will cause holes to be placed into the fabric that they will be attached to. We recommend that instead of purchasing just one Pin-Back or Double Post Bar Fastener that you purchase two name tags...one with a non-intrusive type of fastener such as a magnetic fastener or a BullDog clip. This will permit the one time attachment to the jacket, and then multi use for the other name tag. When two or more name tags are ordered with the same engraving but different fasteners you will realize additional savings on a per name tag basis.
BullDog Clip with Plastic Strap
This BullDog Clip is a versatile fastener, however the name tag design must permit the hole for the strap.
BullDogClip:
This BullDog Clip is a good alternative for those that need stronger attachment than the magnetic fasteners and who desire non-intrusive fastening. This BullDog Clip is strong and it rotates. The rotation of the clip allows the clip to be attached to pockets, pocket flaps, labels, or just a "bunch" of fabric.
Name Tag Plastic Pocket Holder:
Occasionally customers have a need for Pocket Holders for their name tags. The pocket holder that we have available works best with 1" X 3" name tags, and will not work with some name tag designs.
