Red Oak Wooden Name Tags
Oak is an interesting wood...very hard...course grain. We work with both Red and White Oak.
You'll notice in the samples that the grain is relatively visible and that the engraving is not consistant. This lack of consistancy is the result of the wood grain being relatively bold, as opposed to tight, or fine. As the laser burns across the wood the laser encounters different textures in the Oak. The burning is therefore not consistant, with the color of the engraving varying from light to dark.
If you are looking for a name tag that is rough and tough, a nametag that says "strong", then consider using either Red or White Oak. Note that Oak does not hold detail as well as a tight grained wood. Red Oak is reddish when compared to the oatmeal color of White Oak.
